The new SHIMANO 105 brings Di2 shifting to a new set of riders. For those who have only experienced mechanical shifting and ergonomics, SHIMANO 105 Di2 represents a transformation of the road cycling experience. With function and technologies inherited from DURA-ACE and ULTEGRA, SHIMANO 105 is the culmination of years of research and development. With a shared Di2 platform, sophisticated ergonomics, SHIMANO 105-optimized gear combinations, and an exceptional brake system, the new SHIMANO 105 marks a new era of affordable performance.
The wireless Di2 offers faster and more precise gear changes on the rear derailleur. The more compact design integrates wireless unit, charging port and function button. Battery level and Bluetooth/ANT pairing status can be checked via bike computer/smartphone/tablet. In addition, the preferred shifting mode can be selected and the information on the adjustment mode can be queried (for adjusting or tuning the rear derailleur).
Triggered by the wireless shift signal of the shift lever, the extremely powerful motor of the SHIMANO 105 rear derailleur performs a shifting operation within a fraction of a second in interaction with the optimised link structure. The rear derailleur is the heart of the Di2 system and combines charging port, LED indicators, adjustment switch and more in one compact package. The flat profile reduces the risk of damage from contacts and falls.

SEIS SHIMANO ELECTRONIC INTELLIGENT SYSTEM
The SEIS innovative shift technology is still based on the SHIMANO INDEX SYSTEM (SIS) that has proved its superior gear changing characteristics over the years. The big difference is that in this case, the shifting action is provided for by electronics instead of mechanics. This electronic shifting system has been extensively tested over past two years by several professional riders in all conditions possible, such as rain, mud, low temperatures, cobble stone roads and combinations of all of these at the same time. Shifting is executed by simply pressing the button. No power is needed to shift, which gives important advantages since it is easier now to always keep a tight grip on the handlebar and to keep your concentration on riding instead on shifting. The shift system allows accurate and effortless shifting in difficult circumstances like when you have cold hands or when you are completely exhausted. Furthermore, the shifting performance will never be affected by contaminated or stretched cables since the shifting signal is transferred electronically. The operating buttons work similarly to mechanical Dual Control Levers so you don’t need to re-program your mind for a new system.
